Resident Evil Returns To Theaters In 2014

Sony Pictures and Screen Gems have confirmed that a sixth Resident Evil film will release in theaters on September 12, 2014. Last year’s Resident Evil: Retribution had a worldwide gross of $221 million, making it the second most financially successful film in the history of the series.

There has been no confirmation that Milla Jovovich will return as Alice or that her husband Paul W.S. Anderson will come back to the director’s chair. However, given that both have been instrumental to the film franchise since it debuted in 2002, it seems likely they will be back for at least one more go.

We are joyfully scrambling right now to get a longer update and some stretch goals in front of you as soon as we can. We should have more to say later today.”

“You are all unbelievably awesome and we could not be happier about receiving your trust in us,” he added. “For many years we have wanted to get back to making this style of RPG but it appeared that the market was going everywhere but that direction. Almost every article and new game was focused on being an MMO, multi-player or micro-transition based. This wasn’t our style and we couldn’t generate interest in the classical narrative type of RPG that we all grew up making and playing. Thank you for backing our vision once again and we will not let you down. We will continue to communicate and and make sure we solicit input such that the game is hitting all the right notes.”

YouTube’s Hidden Harlem Shake

It’s safe to say the Harlem Shake is sticking around longer than most people thought it would. Now to commemorate the phenomenon that it helped spark, YouTube has topped it off with an Easter Egg.

Search for “Do the Harlem Shake” on YouTube, and watch your home page turn into a version of the viral dance. Make sure your sound is on.

What makes it a great homage is how the site recreates what the videos are about with uncanny accuracy. It’s part of what’s keeping it going, with unique takes every time it seems it should go away. For instance, a Harlem Shaking washing machine, and even a recent airplane gone wild version that’s under investigation by the FAA.

Google, which owns YouTube, is known for adding these types of hidden gems from time to time. For example, search for “do a barrel roll,” a famous line from the video game Star Fox 64, and Google’s entire website spins.

The Making Of Retro City Rampage: Actual 8-bit

Programmer Brian Provinciano started Retro City Rampage as an authentic prototype running on the NES hardware, as a proof of concept that a game like Grand Theft Auto III could have existed in the 80s. Now that the game is out for modern systems, he’s attempted to put his game back onto his original prototype, showing that much of it was possible, while demonstrating the ways he had to compress the game and showing what certain programming terms of the time were.

Sam Raimi Explains Why He Left World Of Warcraft Film

Director Sam Raimi candidly described the reason why he dropped out of the World of Warcraft movie, saying they allowed him to work on the movie project for nine months before rejecting it. Eventually, Raimi decided to pursue the project Oz the Great and Powerful.

“Honestly, I think it was mismanagement on their behalf, not to explain to us that the first story was vetoed long ago. Why did they let us keep working on it Were they afraid to tell me ” said Raimi. “First, they asked me if I wanted to make it, and I said, ‘Yes, I love World of Warcraft, and I think it would make a great picture.’ So I read a screenplay they had that was written by the guys at Blizzard, and it didn’t quite work for me,”

“I told them I wanted to make my own original story with Robert, so we pitched it to Legendary and they accepted it, and then we pitched it to Blizzard, and they had reservations, but they accepted it. Then Robert wrote the screenplay, and only once he was done did we realize that Blizzard had veto power, and we didn’t know that,”he continued. “And they had never quite approved the original story we pitched them. Those reservations were their way of saying, ‘We don’t approve this story, and we want to go a different way,’ so after we had spent nine months working on this thing, we basically had to start over. And Robert did start over, but it was taking too long for the people at Blizzard, and their patience ran out.”

Jon Stewart Temporarily Leaving The Daily Show

Jon Stewart will be taking a leave from The Daily Show for 12 weeks during the summer, starting in June. This will include eight weeks where the show will produce new episodes.

Stewart will take the break to make his feature directorial debut with Rosewater. The movie’s story will focus on that of BBC journalist Maziar Bahari’s New York Times best-selling memoir Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival, with Stewart also penning the adaptation.

“I am a television person who is accustomed to having a thought at 10 AM and having it out there at 6:30 PM and moving on, so this is a little scary, yes,” said Stewart. “But one of the reasons we are in this business is to challenge ourselves, and I really connected to Maziar’s story. It’s a personal story but one with universal appeal about what it means to be free.”

Bahari’s book tells the story of his arrest by the Iranian government in 2009 while covering an election protest. The journalist was subsequently interrogated and tortured during the next 118 days.

OddLot Entertainment and will produce and finance the feature, with Stewart, Gigi Pritzker and Scott Rudin also producing, while Eli Bush will executive produce. Meanwhile, long time show correspondent John Oliver will fill in at the desk of The Daily Show during Stewart’s absence.
