Mobile analytics firm Furry claims that iOS and Android smartphone platforms are taking revenue away from portable consoles. Their recent report says that the iOS and Android make up 34 percent of the total portable game revenue in the U.S., up from 19 percent in 2009.

DS revenue, by contrast over that period, fell from 70 percent to 57 percent and the PSP fell to 9 percent from 11 percent. The U.S. portable gaming category decreased to $2.4 billion in 2010, from $2.7 billion in 2009, while iOS and Android comprised 8 percent of the total U.S. software revenue ($10.7 billion) in 2010, an increase from 5 percent of $10.4 billion in 2009.
