Xbox Original Shows Coming In 2014

It’s been known for a while now that Microsoft was working on original programming for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One game systems, with an announcement of a new Halo series executive produced by Steven Spielberg earlier this year. This weekend, the company clarified just when we would start seeing this programming.

Microsoft’s TV executive, Nancy Tellem, spoke with Variety on the subject, explaining that it would start sometime next year. “We’re hoping we will be able to put something up in the first quarter, at minimum second quarter,” said Tellem.

No particular programming, outside of the Halo series, has been announced yet, as the company I still signing deals to finalize content for the service. Tellem explained, “We aren’t Netflix, we aren’t Amazon, we’re a different animal. We’re neither or we’re a little like them. It all depends. The lack of black and white and this is the template and this is what we’re following is very difficult. As we continue to do deals, everyone’s going to get more comfortable.”

Expect a better idea of programming sometime in 2014.
