Apple Floats The iCloud

Steve Jobs made a rare public appearance to speak at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference. The main focus of his appearance was iCloud and of it Jobs said, “We’re going to demote the PC and the Mac to just be a device.”

“People have mobile phones, laptops, and tablets, and keeping all the data on them can be tricky. The solution for Apple is to move all the data into the iCloud.”

What the service will do exactly is save things like information, photos, music, and applications across apple devices. iCloud will be free and will come to Mac’s various OS products in Fall 2011, with automatic downloads for up to 10 other Apple devices.

Other announcements included iTunes Match giving cloud-sharing capabilities to music not purchased with iTunes for $24.99 annually. iOS also has greater integration with Twitter, letting users tweet photos, map locations, articles, and more with a single tap.
