OUYA 2.0 Is Coming

Even though it’s still facing an uphill struggle to find a wide audience, the team at OUYA remains steadfast behind the Android-based console. And next year, we’ll see some bigger plans in the making.

The company has announced that OUYA 2.0 will make its way to stores sometime in 2014, along with a redesigned controller. Company founder Julie Uhrman confirmed the news this past week.

“Our plan is to have OUYA 2.0 sometime next year, we haven’t finalized the date of that,” said Uhrman. “We’re still determining what exactly we want that to be.”

The redesign would be an improvement, as many believed that the original OUYA system featured an underpowered design compared with the latest smartphones.

Regarding the controller, Uhrman stated that the company is paying attention to feedback from users, “iterating that software, fixing the triggers, fixing the thumbsticks and if that doesn’t work, we’ll iterate it again and if we decide that’s not the right path, we’ll change it.”

No word yet when the controllers will launch specifically.
