Creating a popular website that creates good revenue is a tricky business, though it appears some may have found a loophole that would allow them to profit from an audience that isn’t even there.

Case in point – the website Songsrpeople.com is able to draw in huge numbers with the promise of such clips as “the most insane amusement park ever” and “your girlfriend’s six friends.” It’s also home to such major brands as Target, Amazon and State Farm.

It’s all for naught, though, as a firm called White Ops states that the site’s traffic doesn’t even consist of real people. They are, instead, computer generated visitors (“bots”) which fool advertisers into providing funds for the site.

As a result, like other sites it investigates, White Ops has blacklisted the site, so that ads from agencies, such as for Zipcar, don’t end up on it.

An anonymous rep for Songsrpeople declined to discuss the matter of traffic, but did state that White Ops’ methods weren’t exactly sound.
