Tencent Games recently gathered together a list of the top 10 games in China for August 2013, based upon searches through popular gaming cafes. As expected, a very familiar competitor took the lead.

League of Legends led the charge in the number one position, while other games like NBA2KOL, a variation of 2K Sports’ popular basketball series, and Valve’s DOTA 2 filled the rest of the top 10. The list is as follows…

1. League of Legends

2. CrossFire (a tactical first-person shooter, first developed in 2007)

3. DNF (short for Dungeon & Fighter, an online beat-em-up)

4. QQ Speed (a racer from 2008)

5. QQ XS* (a casual dance game)

6. AgainstWar (a first-person shooter from 2011)

7. Dream of the Three Kingdoms (A fantasy battle game from 2009)

8. DOTA 2 (Valve’s popular real-time strategy game)

9. NBA2KOL (basketball simulation from 2K Sports

10. Fantasy Journey To the West 2 (a fantasy role-playing game from Netease)

Most of the games, save for DOTA 2, are older titles, but this list could easily change now that the ban on video game consoles have lifted in the country.
