EVE Online, CCP’s popular science fiction MMO, has always been the place for some epic space battles but players recently staged one of its biggest battles to date – and the world got to watch it happen.

The battle, which rivals the company’s infamous Battle of Asakai that took place beforehand, went under the code name 6VDT-H and drew hundreds of players into action. It was broadcast live over the Twitch.tv channel, with various viewpoints showing the in-space action as it happened. The CCP team had to slow the action down to 10 percent of normal to handle to the massive scope of the battle.

Following a huge five-hour struggle the battle came to a close, with the CFC team beating the TEST Alliance. Over 2,900 ships were destroyed in the fight, a loss of over $20,000 in real money considering the value of those vessels. TEST’s loss means they’ll need to withdraw from the Fountain region, ceding that area to CFC.
