With the recent removal of the ban on game consoles in China, companies are jumping left and right to bring their systems to the country. Microsoft has already made plans to bring its Xbox consoles there, and now Sony is getting on board with the announcement of a new division.

Dubbed the China Strategy Department, the main goal of the Sony team is to investigate the potential of China as a market for both systems and games Leading the team is Sony Computer Entertainment veteran Takehito Soeda, who previously worked within the PlayStation business as an expert on China business strategy.

There’s been no given date as to when the PlayStation consoles – the PS3, the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita – will arrive on the market, but more information could surface as soon as the Electronic Entertainment Expo this June in Los Angeles.
