Mojang has seen $80 million in Minecraft sales since the game released, according to official documents. The popular game has seen over 5 million paid downloads over that time.

Mojang has apparently rebuffed buyout offers and has never raised independent capital, and has no plans to. While the company has made over $1 million in merchandising through licensing at ThinkGeek, Jinx and Happy Socks, other opportunities with TV are possible in the future.

“We’ve been approached by a number of high-profile Hollywood producers and asked to do TV shows,” said Mojang CEO Carl Manneh. “We may do that. It’s hard when you don’t have any experience and someone comes to throw these ideas around. We have so much to focus on with just the game development and growing the business. But if the right idea comes along and the right people that we’d want to work with, we’d say why not ”
