Research In Motion’s Blackberry had a 41.7 percent market share among smartphone platforms, according to comScore, making them the smartphone maker with the largest marketshare for the three-month period ending May 2010. They were followed by Apple’s iPhone with 24.4 percent, Microsoft’s Windows Mobile with 13.2 percent, Google’s Android with 13.0 percent, and Palm bringing up the rear with 4.8 percent.

It’s worth noting that this sales period does not include the launch of the iPhone 4 nor new Android devices like HTC Evo 4G from Sprint and Motorola’s Droid X from Verizon. Also, Google had a four percent gain over the last reporting period, making them the only smartphone company with a positive gain during that period.

Regardless of preference, smartphone ownership in the U.S. was up 8.1 percent over the last reporting period to 49.1 million people.
