Sony Pictures and Screen Gems have confirmed that a sixth Resident Evil film will release in theaters on September 12, 2014. Last year’s Resident Evil: Retribution had a worldwide gross of $221 million, making it the second most financially successful film in the history of the series.
There has been no confirmation that Milla Jovovich will return as Alice or that her husband Paul W.S. Anderson will come back to the director’s chair. However, given that both have been instrumental to the film franchise since it debuted in 2002, it seems likely they will be back for at least one more go.
