Sony has announced the successor to the PSP, which is not called PSP2 but next generation portable (or NGP) for now. The system will have both Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity and is planned to launch in 2011.

The system will have a 5-inch organic light emitting display, high-performance CPU / GPU, and a multi-touch pad on the rear. The unit has an ovular shape designed to be more comfortable, along with dual analogs, a camera in the front and rear, as well as three motion sensors.

Retail games will come on a flash memory based card, along with available downloadable titles that will include Android content. Online options will include LiveArea for sharing gameplay experiences and Near which lets users see what their friends are playing.
