Super Mario 3DS is one of the most anticipated games for the system, but details on it have been fairly illusive. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, however, insists that its a completely new game and not a remake of an older Super Mario title.

“It’s a combination of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario on N64,” explained Miyamoto. “It won’t convey the message if I talk to you today, but if you play it at E3 that will give you more understanding of what I’m talking about.”

The 3D effect will be used to help judge distances better, and Miyamoto also commented on the raccoon tail on the game’s logo. “It’s what you think it is,” said Miyamoto. “You probably know what’s going to happen using that character.”
