Newzoo and Distimo revealed that games are the largest category on the Apple App Store and account for half of free and paid Apps. They also revealed that the 63 million iOS gamers in the U.S. and six major European countries downloaded five million games per day during March 2011.

Users notably downloaded an average of 2.5 games per month. The study also showed that the economics of apps were changing, with 40 percent of money spent on iOS titles coming from in-game purchases.
