Google released its “Zeitgeist” list for the most searched for terms in 2011. While specific titles were the most search for under games, online games were more generic and less leaning towards specific titles; Battlefield saw a notable lift this year.
“The highly anticipated release of EA’s first-person shooter video game, Battlefield 3, sold 5 million copies in its first week,” noted Google. “Searches for Battlefield 3 and related searches BF3 jumped 1,773 percent between 2010 and 2011, making this action game the #5 fastest rising search on Google in 2011.”
