Soundgarden will be debuting its first album in 13 years via Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. Telephantasm: A Retrospective will be available packaged with the game one week before it releases to retail.

“There are a lot of different ways to get your music out (and) … this clearly to me is one way to do that,” says Soundgarden lead singer Chris Cornell. “Guitar Hero has actually turned on a lot of young music fans to music that they otherwise might not have ever heard.”

“Telephantasm” will feature Black Hole Sun and Spoonman, as well as a previously unreleased song Black Rain. The latter song will be playable on the Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock game disc, while the rest will be available for download.

Guitar Hero chief operating officer David Haddad says “Telephantasm”‘s immediate availability as downloadable game content, “is a recognition from the music industry that we are a platform for digital distribution.”
