Sony Pictures has sent word that Rhys Ifans has been cast in the new Spider-Man movie as a villain. The specific role for the Welsh actor was not identified, leaving people to speculate that it could be any number of villians, including the Jackal, Green Goblin, Lizard, Vulture, Kraven or Morbius.
“What sets the Spider-Man villains apart is the complexity of their relationships with Peter Parker,” said director Mark Webb. “Rhys’ incredible ability to embody both warmth and rage makes him the ideal choice for this character.”
