A U.S. judge recently set that December 6 will be the court date to hear Apple’s request for a permanent injunction against Samsung Electronics’ smartphones. This decision blunts the potential impact of Apple’s legal victory against Samsung.

Apple is seeking eight devices for a preliminary injunctions and a hearing on that matter had been scheduled for September 20. Eventually, Apple would like to file for a permanent sales ban on the devices.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh said that due to the scope of Apple’s preliminary injunction request, she moved to consolidate the various post-trial motions. The September 20 hearing will be devoted to Samsung’s request to remove a sales ban against its Galaxy Tab 10.1, one of the few points the jury sided with Samsung.

Apple’s permanent injunction request will be considered in December after attorneys file detailed legal arguments. Samsung’s stock took a beating after the $1.05 billion in damages was awarded to Apple, thought it has recovered in the days since the ruling.
