Movie box office takes continued to slide with a nearly quarter reduction from last year, from $165.3 million to $125 million. Shrek Forever After continued its reign at number one for the third straight week taking in $25.3 million and bringing its domestic total to $183 million in ticket sales to date.
Get Him to the Greek and Killers had lukewarm debuts of $17.4 million and $16.1 million, compared to the $45 million that another comedy, The Hangover took last Summer. Meanwhile, both Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Sex and the City 2 saw over 50 percent drops from their opening weekends, down to $13.9 million and $12.7 million, respectively.
