Deadpool Celebrates Mother’s Day

Deadpool recently released a special holiday message for Cinco de Mayo and he’s not stopping there. The infamous mercenary has a special message for all the ladies out there (that just happen to be moms):

“Hey, moms, Deadpool here – let’s get real:

Life is hectic enough as it is, what with the full-time job and raising kids (and a husband, amirite !); with everything a modern woman is expected to do, you don’t always have time to jet off to Genosha on a whim to take down Mister Sinister and his island of misfit marauders. Well I made my upcoming video game, DEADPOOL, out June 25, just for you! Let out all of your steam through ME as we crush bad guys and blow crap up, all from the comfort of home!

Because Deady loves you – Happy Mother’s Day!”

Blizzard Donating Diablo III Gold Exploit Proceeds To Charity

A recent gold-duping bug in Diablo III had pushed the game’s auction house offline in North America as Blizzard sought to fix the problem. The company noted that it was reluctant to do a rollback as that would punish players who were paying and playing legitimately (which was the vast majority of players).

“With this in mind, we elected not to roll back the servers in The Americas and are instead working to remove duplicated gold from the economy through targeted audits and account actions (as indicated above) without taking away progress that our players rightfully earned,” wrote John Hight, production director at Blizzard. “As of this this post, we have already recaptured more than 85 percent of the excess gold from the accounts involved, and over the days ahead we will continue to pore over our audit data to reclaim as much duplicate currency as possible. We’ve also done a full audit of our code to help make sure that something like this doesn’t happen again.”

“Many people bought and sold items and gold on the Auction House on Tuesday. We’re making sure that all legitimate transactions go through,” Hight added. “This means that if your account was not involved in the exploit, you will get to keep your items and gold, as well as any money you received from sales on the real-money Auction House. We’ll also be donating all proceeds from auctions conducted by the suspended or banned players’ including all of their sale proceeds that we intercepted as well as our transaction fee to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”

Puzzle & Dragons Publisher Sees Profit Explode In Early 2013

Barnes & Noble Sees Stock Increase On Nook Buyout Rumors

Barnes & Noble saw a stock surge on the report that Microsoft wants to buy the Nook Media unit for $1 billion. The bookseller’s stock increased 24 percent to $22.08 at the close in New York for the largest one-day gain since April 30, 2012.

The plan sees Microsoft gaining preferred units in Nook Media, which also includes a college book business. Nook Media also intends to discontinue its Android-based tablet business by the end of its 2014 fiscal year to begin using applications on unnamed “third-party” devices, which would probably be Microsoft related.

Both Barnes & Noble and Microsoft declined to comment.

Sony Says PS4 Will Be Cheaper To Deliver At Launch Than PS3

Sony chief financial officer Masaru Kato indicates that the PlayStation unit will see operating income in line with previous years, despite the console transition. That is because the PS4 won’t have custom hardware like the Cell processor and an addition like a Blu-ray drive (which was expensive in 2006).

“Unlike PS3, we are not planning a major loss to be incurred with the launch of PS4,” said Kato. “At the time we developed PS3, we made a lot of in-house investments to develop the Cell chip. Development of the chip saw the silicon processing and all the facilities [as internal investments]. This time, we have a team working on chip development, but we already have existing technology to incorporate. All the facilities will now be invested by our partners, other foundries, so we don’t have to make all the investment in-house.”
