Bodycount — Gun Gratuity

Bodycount is being billed as the Lady Gaga of shooters, and it’s certainly not lacking in over-the-top violence. And because every trailer is better with a licensed music track, this one features Kids by the Sleigh Bells.

Steve Jobs Departure May Hurt Disney Too

While Apple is the most prominent company that will suffer from Steve Jobs semi-retirement, they are far from the only one. Walt Disney Co. and, by extension, their brands ABC and ESPN to Pixar may suffer as well; he technically sits on the board, even if health issues have kept him from attending a majority of meetings.

“I wouldn’t say he’s been a passive board member at Disney, but it’s come pretty close to that,” said Tuna Amobi, a media analyst with Standard & Poor’s. “People understand that his health issues have somewhat limited his ability to contribute fully as a board member . . . [and] are somewhat forgiving of that—he takes no compensation for his board role.”

Jobs has, however, lent his expertise in helping Disney revamp their own stores, with things like interactive displays and center stage theaters. These sorts of insights will be sorely missed if Jobs stops contributing to Disney.

“It’s a basic governance challenge: How do you create a succession plan for someone who can’t really be replaced ” said Ric Marshall, chief analyst with GovernanceMetrics International, an independent provider of corporate governance ratings and research. “You have to replace them as best you can and be prepared for the company to experience change. Disney itself is a great example of that. It’s like working Walt Disney all over again.”

Deus Ex: Human Revolution New Content Hint

The in-game ticker for Deus Ex: Human Revolution recently put out the message “Human Revolutions — Special Message Incoming / Be Ready / 2200 GMT 29 Aug.” A message emerged online, which was quickly deciphered.

This led users to 13311tower.com, which has GPS coordinates in its header. The coordinates lead to a place called Ayers Rock, aka ‘Uluru’, which when used as a password on the site wields the aboveimage.

While no one can be sure right now, may figure this points to potential DLC.

T-Mobile’s Tough Spot

T-Mobile’s merger with AT&T might be nixed by the justice department, but that might be the least of the carrier’s worries. Currently at 33.6 million customers, they’ve been losing out to other brands during the past half year.

The fourth largest carrier in the U.S. has had to endure the image that it’s unable to compete at the highest level with companies like Verizon Wireless and AT&T. At the same time, they’re seen as not as thrifty as companies like Sprint Nextel and MetroPCS.

So T-Mobile sees its best sort of customers, those that buy smartphones and sign up for two-year contracts with expensive data plans, leaving. It’s not due to dissatisfaction on the whole (customers are more satisfied with T-Mobile than AT&T) but due to the fact that they don’t offer the iPhone like AT&T and Verizon.

T-Mobile has also had to suffer through the problem of limited wireless spectrum, as they’ve been slow to buy up space on the airwaves like the competition. The company’s own estimates believe that smartphone data use could fill up their airwaves in a few years.

Recon Analytics analyst Roger Entner thinks that Sprint has done much better by focusing on their customer service. “The U.S. market is competitive and companies can come back from near death when they do things right,” Entner said. “The problem is that T-Mobile USA’s parent Deutsche Telekom is not committed to the U.S. market the same way its competitors are.”

PSN Falls Under New Sony Entertainment Network Banner

Sony announced at the recent IFA consumer electronics conference that their music, video and PSN services will all fall under the new Sony Entertainment Network banner. Sony executive deputy president Kaz Hirai indicated that this will allow Sony device users (including the PS3 and PSP) will be able to experience their entertainment in a more streamlined fashion.

Part of the change over will mean the Qriocity name is retired; instead, the music and video-on-demand services now referred as “Music Unlimited” and “Video Unlimited.” Partner services such as Hulu Plus, Netflix MLB.tv, and Pandora will maintain separate log-ins under the Entertainment Network brand.

Bayonetta 2 Announcement Hopes Dashed

Bayonetta director, Hideki Kamiya, was recently asked point blank about an announcement of a sequel. He responded with, “This week… in a game magazine” on Twitter, which seemed to be a solid indication of something in Famitsu.

Unfortunately, Platinum producer Atsushi Inaba has come out and said about Bayonetta 2 that, “There is no such announcement!” He went on to add that Kamiya tends to joke around in his tweets and to not take it what he says too seriously.
