Dark Knight Rises Tickets See Scalping

As anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises reaches a fever pitch, tickets midnight showings of the film are being scalped for between $25 and $40. In some cases, some ticket sellers want well over $100 for their ticket.

Meanwhile, the hype for The Dark Knight Rises has gotten so heavy, some fans posted scathing and threatening remarks to critics of the film on RottenTomatoes.com. The site has taken the drastic measure of closing down the comments temporarily with plans to reopen them on Friday, though in the long term the comment system could change, like eliminating the ability to post anonymously.

“The job of policing the comments became more than my staff could handle for that film, so we stopped the comments altogether,” said RottenTomatoes.com’s editor-in-chief Matt Atchity. “It just got to be too much hate-based on reactions to reviews of movies that people hadn’t even seen.”

Bigpoint Closes Mobile Division

Bigpoint has confirmed that its mobile development business is closing, resulting in 29 employees being let go. This follows the departure of managing directors Philip and Tobias Reisberger and the confirmed resignation of Nils Holger Henning, chief communication officer, who is leaving the business to form a start-up with financial assistance from Bigpoint.

“I’m a big believer in mobile, it’s going to change many things in the games industry. But I also think it’s not the right time at the moment to be in this market because to generate revenues in this market is very tough,” said Bigpoint CEO Heiko Hubertz. “For that reason we decided also to close our internal mobile games development. We will not continue to create mobile games internally.”

He added: “We had around ten games in development, some of them are finished and will launch in the next few weeks but most of them will be completely closed and shut down.”
