XCOM ARG Looks To The Sky

What is Citizen Skywatch? {link no longer active} A new website, Facebook page, Twitter {links no longer active} and YouTube account under the mystery name has launched speculation across the connected web. At roughly 3 p.m. EST on 8/15/11, the Citizen Skywatch Twitter feed was updated with the following message: “URGENT TX: Citizen 19 in N Calif reports strange weather phenomena. Details to follow.” Take-Two has announced that Citizen Skywatch is an ARG linked to XCOM that will be playable at Gamescom this week. At the time of reporting, someone named Citizen One has been reporting that an invasion has begun and that the skies are filled with the shadows of an unknown enemy whose origins are “impenetrable, its purpose inscrutable, its methods – incredible”! An official Citizen Skywatch bulletin board {link no longer active} has been launched acting as a central forum to enable all active members to present new information and “engage in deep discussion regarding emerging theories”. Two incidents have been reported as well, both on the website and on Twitter regarding the observation of aerial phenomena reported by the CHP and a bizarre isolated electrical storm reported via radar by the Air Force. Let Your Bee Beard Grow

Irish cider brand Magners has launched a free iPhone app {link no longer active} featuring Eamon, the Clonmel beekeeper, who lives his daily life always wearing a beard of bees. Users can choose one of six bee beard styles to add to a photo and then share with friends. Every time the app is downloaded, a donation of 50 bees will be made to the British Bee Keeping Association and the Federation of Irish BeeKeepers, to help save 1.5 million urban bees over the next year. A donation will also be made whenever someone ‘likes’ the Magners Facebook page and each time someone enters the competition to win one of 25 Urban Beekeeping Scholarships.

In anticipation of the remake of Fright Night, {link no longer active}  an incentivized sharing program has been launched on the official Facebook page that allows fans to share Fright Night content with friends through your social feeds and attend exclusive Fright Night Friday events for a chance to win. Register to be part of the frenzy and become eligible to win weekly prizes. Help feed the frenzy by sharing weekly promoted content, retweeting special messages and attending special Fright Night events. The Sprite Zero Skate n Splash campaign has launched an interactive YouTube skate video {link no longer active} that lets you instantly skip from one segment to the next, deciding exactly what you ll see and when you ll see it. Hit play and use keyboard keys 4 through 9 to replay skateboard tricks, skip others, and create your own rhythmic masterpieces on the fly. Viewers can jump between moves that will inevitably conclude with the skater landing with a splash into the water below him. Moves include One Foot Method Air and Lay Back Air. The video can also be viewed linearly without interaction in full screen mode.

‘Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark’ Begs You To Enter

The official site {link no longer active} for Guillermo Del Toro’s Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark takes the audience inside the creepy house of the film by utilizing user input and a webcam. To progress through the site, user’s must click and find different objects throughout the house. Proceed to Sally’s Room and find a tooth hidden under her pillow to see a short clip from the film. Connected webcam users can allow the site access and will take a photo that can be shared to document the moment. Each room has discoverable objects (like a Teddy Bear that talks) and information about each of the case members. To make it even more creepy, when first launching the site the user can input their name which can be heard in the voices that haunt the house calling out for the user to go deeper and deeper.
