White iPhone 4 Spotted In The Wild

The white iPhone 4 has been something that was initially promised but has never materialized. Manufacturing problems were blamed, but specifics were not given out by the reticent Apple.

As luck would have it, apparently a man was spotted at a New York press event with one, and he said that a friend hooked him up and that Apple had plenty of them now. He commented, Apple is having trouble getting its two suppliers in the Far East to match the white used in the manufacturing of the parts.”

Whatever the reason, the white iPhone 4 is still not listed as available for pickup.

Halo: Reach Moves 3.3 Million In U.S. First Month

Microsoft confirmed today that Halo: Reach has sold over 3.3 million copies in the U.S. in September. That number does not include any sales in Europe nor does it account for how well it will likely sell in the lead-up to the holidays.

“Halo Reach did 3.3 million in the US in Sept as #1 selling game, congrats to Bungie,” tweeted Aaron Greenberg.

Mafia Wars Goes Presidential

Mafia Wars is giving a nod to bank robbers with presidential masks with their Masked Robbery event. Players will have five days to collect three executive masks based around the last three presidents, charmingly named Bubba, Dubya, and Rock.

“For those of you who competed in the Prized Pig event, you’ll be familiar with the rules of Masked Robbery,” reads the blog site. “Send masks to your mafia and ask masks from your mafia through Facebook feeds and requests. Each mask has 3 levels of mastery – bronze, silver, and gold. When you collect enough masks to complete mastery, you earn high-powered items to get stronger. Master all the masks to Gold Mastery to get the grand daddy of prizes, the Executive Decision (130 ATT, 102 DEF).”

Facebook Aligns With Bing

Microsoft announced recently that they are furthering their alliance with Facebook. As a result, the social network will see more integration with Bing’s search results.

Additionally, features from Bing will make their way into Facebook searches. Bing will now display data from Facebook like user profiles and pages your friends have “Liked” on top of their regular Web searches.

“This is going to profoundly change how we search,” said Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi.

While Bing only represents about 11 percent of searches compared to Google’s 66 percent, Facebook has been more open in their willingness to work with Google rivals, including Microsoft and Yahoo. “They’re just trying to rapidly gain share by doing awesome stuff,” said Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg of Microsoft. “They’re really the underdog here.”

Dragon Age II Gets Signature Edition

BioWare announced recently the Dragon Age II BioWare Signature Edition. It will include over $20 of additional content, including an additional playable character, new mission, a digital version of the Dragon Age II soundtrack and an exclusive in-game digital armory.

“Over the past 15 years, we’ve been privileged to have the support of a passionate community of fans, who continue to grow in number with every game we release,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, Senior Vice President of Electronic Arts and co-founder and Group General Manager of BioWare. “The BioWare Signature Edition of Dragon Age II is a chance for us to reward loyal fans who pre-order the game by providing them with additional high-quality content for free.”

Dragon Age II looks to draw in an even larger audience with more stylized art and more action-oriented gameplay, with saved games from the first Dragon Age changing aspects of the game world. This time around, players take the role of Hawke and rise to glory over a decade-long story.

Dragon Age II BioWare Signature Edition will only be available via pre-order and online purchase on or before January 11, 2011, essentially making it a first strike against used games and an incentive to get the game early. Dragon Age II will release for PS3, PC and Xbox 360 on March 8, 2011.

Verizon iPhone Again Pegged For Early 2011

With Verizon selling iPads, it seems to be only a matter of time until Apple announces an iPhone for North America’s largest carrier. Indeed, an analyst citing Asian parts supplier sourcers pegs a Verizon iPhone for March 2011.

“It’s on track,” said Brian Marshall, a Gleacher & Co. analyst. “It won’t be just for Verizon, there are international carriers that use CDMA, like KDDI in Japan, so I expect that Apple will make a big global push, not only in the U.S.”

Marshall expects the upside to be huge for Apple. “Apple will sell an additional 11.5 million units with Verizon. [Sales at] AT&T would go down only a couple million, but Verizon would sell at least 11.5 million in 2011.”
