An Overview Of The Dark Knight Rises Social Campaign

Across the web, pages of the Gotham Observer have begun to appear online. Harvey Dent Day is being celebrated, stories about a rash of burglaries and a construction site being ransacked. All of these things seem like obvious precursors to events in the movie, but there is one ad at the end of the paper for Rykin Data that seems curious. The Rykin site {link no longer active} has a patent application for a system that will purge someone’s digital records in their entirety.

How will this be featured in The Dark Knight Rises?  Maybe it’s a new kind of tech in Gotham?  What do you think?

Mountain Dew also has launched an extensive viral site (link no longer active} for The Dark Knight Rises with plenty of movie-related areas to explore, exclusive items to check out and contests to enter.  The most interesting thing to come out of the site so far is a letter from Wayne Enterprises’ head of R&D, Lucius Fox addressed to a reclusive Bruce Wayne.  In it, Fox expresses his concern over Wayne’s absence, the growing frustration of the board members, a mysterious project that’s sucking up an “astronomical” amount of capital.

The letter can be found in the “Applied Sciences” area of the Mountain Dew website. Dewgothamcity {link no longer active}is chock full of original content unlockables, digital engagements like the Tumbler Designer, digital and real world rewards and gated content (inside the Bat Cave of course). Fans can earn points by registered codes from bottles of Mountain Dew and win a chance to attend an advanced screening, a signed script, a limited edition Xbox, a replica of the Batman or Bane mask or Gotham Rogues gear.

How Much Haggis Can A YouTuber Eat?

Produced by the Ayzenberg Group, Brave: The Video Game Challenge Course kicks off today on the Disney Interactive Studios YouTube channel. YouTube stars Tobuscus, Katers17, DaneBoe and OlgaKay challenge their fate on an obstacle course to discover who is BRAVE.

The course is comprised of obstacles made to mirror events in the game/movie (i.e. dunking the suitor, finding the wisp, etc.) Ayzenberg made things a little more interesting by adding in things such as a chocolate covered slide, cool whip inside balloons they needed to pop and having them eat Haggis. At the end of the first video, fans are allowed to choose which famous YouTuber they want to see run through the challenge, obstacle course.

Weyland Mission Recruitment

An interactive website for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus lets fans dive into a transmedia and interactive experience that redefines the typical movie site or portal. Working closely with Microsoft, the Project Prometheus Training Center and each engagement contained within has been built in HTML5 and works on modern browsers, such as Google Chrome and Safari, but the experience works best on Internet Explorer 9. Users begin by logging into the Project Prometheus Training Center with Facebook or Twitter. A user’s score will then appear on a leaderboard that is updated in real-time throughout the day and in a way that can be compared with friends. 79,700 is the highest score possible across all tests. How high can you score

Most of the content wrapped up in the Project Prometheus Training Center is game based. The games range from puzzles and logic quizzes to reflex tests. In the “agility” test, for instance, users have to move their way through an obstacle course using the arrow keys on the keyboard to move left and right. In the “G-Force test,” users are tasked with keeping their mouse cursor in the center of a grid, despite the “G-Force effect” imposed by the browser. In the “spatial relations” test, users match Tetris-like pieces in the correct position in a limited amount of time. The most impressive game is the “pre-cortex” test, which is a 3D Rubik’s cube and logic puzzle with varying degrees of difficulty. This test is only available in IE 9.

Rob Gotham Blind

Setting the stage for the much anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Brothers is drumming up excitement with this game tie-in that lets players rob Gotham City blind during Bane’s powerful uprising.

The Fire Rises casts players as henchmen, out to get their own piece of Gotham’s pie. With lackeys of their own, players secure territory, spawn various crew members to take out a relentless stream of deadly security officers, and loot valuable gear from nearby buildings, all before Gotham PD shows up in full force and puts an end to your crime spree.

To pull off big heists, you will have to mix-and-match your squads, spawn them from sewer covers quickly and efficiently, and arrange them around the battlefield in just the right way to buy your looters valuable time. Steal enough goods and you will unlock more crew members, including Catwoman herself.

Revenge Solves Everything

On the official site for Dishonored, a series of gated engagements have been revealed. Entitled “Paths of Revenge”, these engagements are designed to pique the curiosity of the user and reward them with game related downloadables (i.e. screensavers). Each engagement is housed at its own individual URL. The first one is at revengesolveseverything.com and the second one is at weaponsofrevenge.com. The first engagement allows fans to manipulate a metal mask by rotating and exploring. The next engagement begins with a futuristic mousetrap being set down and two plague rats begin to sniff it. Eventually the trap releases spraying blood everywhere resulting in a reward for the user. Stay tuned for more engagements to come.
